The Challenge
VICSEG New Futures supports migrants, refugees, and communities across Victoria, vital work delivered by a lean, purpose-driven team. Like many not-for-profits, it wanted to make better use of Microsoft 365 but first needed a clear picture of where things stood. What was configured? What was secure? Where were the gaps and the quick wins? Without that understanding, any investment risked being guesswork. VICSEG needed an honest assessment and a practical path forward.
What Evocate Delivered
In 2022, Evocate delivered a Microsoft 365 discovery:
- Environment assessment: reviewed the current Microsoft 365 configuration and usage
- Security and licensing review: checked security, collaboration, and licensing against the organisation’s needs
- Gap analysis: identified gaps, risks, and opportunities to get more from existing investment
- Quick wins: highlighted immediate improvements alongside longer-term steps
- Prioritised roadmap: delivered a clear plan VICSEG could act on at its own pace
Outcomes
VICSEG New Futures now has a clear understanding of its Microsoft 365 environment and a roadmap to improve it. Decisions are grounded in fact rather than assumption. The organisation knows which steps deliver the most value first, and can plan investment to match its capacity and funding. As a not-for-profit, it can also make the most of Microsoft’s nonprofit offerings with a clear sense of what it needs.
Why This Matters
Discovery is the cheapest, smartest first step in any technology journey. It replaces guesswork with evidence and turns a vague sense of “we should do more” into a concrete plan. For a mission-driven organisation with limited resources, spending on the wrong thing is a cost it can least afford, which is exactly why an honest baseline pays for itself. Evocate’s role was to give VICSEG New Futures a roadmap that respects both its goals and its constraints.
