The Challenge
Medical & Aged Care Group (MAACG) is a family owned business managing 17 medical clinics and 5 nursing homes across Australia, with a $45M turnover. They had invested in a SharePoint based solution to manage their aged care operations, but it was stuck on ageing on premises servers that previous providers hadn’t been able to move.
The core problem: MAACG’s SharePoint solution relied heavily on SharePoint Timer Jobs: custom server side business logic that simply doesn’t exist in SharePoint Online. Previous migration attempts by other vendors had failed because of this fundamental incompatibility.
MAACG needed the solution moved to the cloud, the on premises servers eliminated, and the business logic preserved, with minimal disruption to operations across 22 healthcare facilities.
The Solution
Evocate, in direct consultation with Microsoft, delivered an Australia first solution: porting SharePoint Timer Job business logic to Azure Services, enabling the full migration to SharePoint Online without losing any custom functionality.
The migration path was methodical:
- SharePoint 2007 → SharePoint 2010 → SharePoint 2013: staged upgrade path
- SharePoint 2013 → SharePoint Online (Office 365): cloud migration
- Timer Jobs → Azure Services: business logic ported to .NET 4.0 C# Azure workers
- Full fidelity content migration: all metadata, permissions, and created by fields preserved
Key capabilities delivered:
- Complete elimination of on premises servers
- Azure hosted business logic replacing unsupported Timer Jobs
- Full fidelity migration preserving all content metadata
- Minimal disruption to healthcare operations
- Office 365 SharePoint Online as the single platform
