Healthcare healthcare indigenous

The Challenge

Central Australian Aboriginal Congress (CAAC) is one of the largest Aboriginal community controlled health services in the Northern Territory, delivering primary healthcare, public health programmes, and social support services across remote Central Australian communities. Staff work from clinics, community centres, and mobile service points spread across vast distances, many with limited connectivity. Critical policies, procedures, and organisational information weren’t reaching frontline clinical staff reliably. Communication depended on email, phone calls, and paper based processes that couldn’t scale across the geographic spread.

What Evocate Delivered

Evocate deployed two complementary solutions in under two months:

  • theHub (Evocate SharePoint intranet): a branded SharePoint Hub site configured for CAAC’s organisational structure, providing centralised access to clinical policies, HR documents, organisational news, and quick links to key clinical and administrative systems. Deployed in under two months.
  • Microsoft Teams: structured channels for clinical teams, administrative functions, and cross location collaboration, with training tailored to staff across varying levels of digital literacy. Deployed in 2 to 4 weeks.
  • SharePoint document migration: existing policies and operational documents migrated into the new environment with appropriate metadata and permissions
  • Hands on adoption support: training designed for a workforce with diverse digital literacy, including remote and in person sessions tailored to clinical and administrative staff

Outcomes

CAAC’s clinical and administrative staff across remote Central Australia now access a single branded intranet for policies, procedures, organisational news, and system links, regardless of which clinic or community they’re working from. Microsoft Teams replaced phone and email coordination with structured channels that work over low bandwidth connections common in remote communities. Policy updates that previously took days to distribute via email and paper now reach all staff instantly through theHub. The adoption training, designed for staff who had never used collaboration tools before, ensured uptake across the workforce, not just the digitally confident.

Why This Matters

Healthcare organisations serving remote and Indigenous communities face technology challenges most consultancies don’t understand: low bandwidth environments, workforces with diverse digital literacy, strict privacy requirements around health information, and solutions that must work reliably far from well connected urban centres. CAAC’s engagement demonstrates Evocate’s ability to deliver Microsoft solutions that work in the real world of remote Australian healthcare, not just in CBD offices. This case study is directly relevant to any Aboriginal community controlled health organisation, remote health service, or rural healthcare provider considering Microsoft 365 adoption.
