The Challenge
Bess Concrete operates in concrete construction, a business with office staff, project teams and people on site who all need to stay coordinated. Construction runs on fast, reliable communication and shared documents, but like many trade-based businesses, Bess had not yet made the most of the Microsoft 365 tools it was already paying for. Microsoft Teams in particular was underused, and there was no clear picture of how the environment was set up or where collaboration could improve. The starting point was not a big migration, it was understanding the current state and lifting the team’s skills.
What Evocate Delivered
In 2021 Evocate delivered a Microsoft 365 discovery and Microsoft Teams training engagement:
- Discovery: the existing Microsoft 365 environment, licensing and how staff work
- Opportunity mapping: practical ways to improve collaboration and communication
- Teams training: hands-on Microsoft Teams training tailored to how a construction business operates
- Practical guidance: using Teams for chat, meetings, calls and shared files
- Recommendations and handover: to guide next steps
Outcomes
Bess Concrete now has a clear picture of its Microsoft 365 environment and where it can get more value from tools it already owns. Staff have practical Microsoft Teams skills, so communication between office and site can move into one organised platform rather than scattered channels. The discovery gives the business a grounded set of next steps instead of guesswork.
Why This Matters
Many construction and trade businesses own Microsoft 365 but use only a fraction of it. Bess Concrete shows the value of starting with discovery and adoption rather than a big-bang project: understand the environment, train the people, and put to use the collaboration tools that are already there. It is a low-risk, high-return first step that sets up any larger modernisation later.
