Database Architecture

Databases are often the most mission critical software application in a business. Building, managing and maintaining these systems takes a special kind of person. One who can understand the elegance and beauty of the relationships between data and information. At Evocate, we are passionate about building databases and are thrilled by the endless opportunities which then emerge for linking into other information systems. We build databases on a wide range of platforms. From Microsoft's Access to full strength SQL versions like Microsoft SQL server 2008 and MySQL. Data migration between versions is a delicate process that requires a high degree of attention to detail. Understanding the granularity of data and recognising the patterns within are things that our developers are well in-tuned with and ensure that migration projects are successful.

Database

Microsoft Access Databases are sometimes the most practical solution platforms available to a business. It comes out of the box if you have installed the Microsoft Office suite of products. Leveraging these systems to their limits in a multi-user environment can yield high quality applications. At Evocate we have the know-how and skill set it takes to programmatically develop MS Access applications that are very impressive.

In addition to this, we build databases in Microsoft SQL Server 2008/2005 that leverage cutting edge technology yet we maintain competitive costing. Our systems leverage Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and work on platform independent front ends. We are enthusiastic about technology and always looking for ways to improve our core code.

We also use SharePoint to build web enabled Databases. These solutions use SharePoint Libraries and Lists as data stores while documents (like MS word, excel, power point and OneNote) and forms are used as data input points. Metadata and content types are extensively used and this provides the ability to search the database using SharePoint own search engine.Complexity dictates whether InfoPath forms should be used in solutions. With their use, a completely customisable user interface is achievable. The additionally SharePoint provides the ability to easily incorporate work flows to data processing and manipulation. This can provides a level of usability that is intuitive and cost effective to implement and generally hard to achieve with other databases models.

Providing the right database management strategies for your environment is important to us! We can assist you with setting up your disaster recovery strategy if you do not already have one. Undertaking database audits and Health checks are important and should already be part of your ongoing maintenance plan. Performance tuning, routine preventive maintenance, reactive maintenance, and professional advice are all part of the Evocate experience. We also provide Migration services where necessary.
